Legendary Indian Cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar had to leave the commentary duty in the middle of IND vs ENG 2nd Test due to the death of his mother-in-law. After hearing the news of her passing away Gavaskar had to immediately leave for Kanpur from Visakhapatnam. He was amid commentary on Day 1 of the India vs England 2nd Test Gavaskar got the tragic news & left immediately for Kanpur.
Notably when Gavaskar’s mother passed away at that time also he was on commentatory duty. Gavaskar’s mother, Meena Gavaskar was 95 years old when she died in 2022. At the time of Meena Gavaskar’s death, Gavaskar was doing commentary in Dhaka during the India vs Bangladesh Test in December 2022.
Gavaskar has been one of the most renowned commentators & analysts for India’s Men’s Cricket Series. He was also a part of the commentary panel for the Hyderabad Test & he resumed again with his commentary duty in the Visakhapatnam Test. But God wanted to repeat the past as his mother-in-law passed away when he was doing commentary duty during the second Test.

Gavaskar has played 125 Tests & amassed 10,122 runs & 3092 runs in 108 ODIs. He has now become one of the most renowned voices in World cricket. After his retirement, Gavaskar has taken up several roles in cricket administration. He has also taken up the role of BCCI president in the past & has led the responsibilities of the board to the fullest. No one can doubt Gavaskar’s ability as a commentator & his incredible insights & knowledge of the game make him one of the best commentators in World Cricket.
IND vs ENG 2nd Test: India ended Day 1 at 366-1
During India vs England 2nd Test, India won the toss & opted to bat first. While Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer managed good starts they failed to convert it into big scores. But with Yashasvi Jaiswal on the field things were under control for India as he managed to score 179 runs off 187 balls guiding India to a decent total of 366-1 at Stumps on Day 1.
Now Jasiwal & Ashwin will resume India’s innings on Day 2, Saturday on the grounds of Vishakhapatnam. Jaiswal would aim to guide India to a mammoth total by continuing his caution with aggression approach on Day 2 of India vs England 2nd Test.
