The Sreesanth vs Gambhir controversy which was raised due to their on-field exchange during a LLC fixture is reaching new heights. Their on-field verbal has taken a new turn as LLC has issued a legal notice to the former pacer for speaking inappropriate words against Gambhir.
For the unversed, Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth got involved in a heated exchange during the Legends League Cricket encounter between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants on Wednesday. Following the incident, S Sreesanth posted a few videos to issue his clarification on the matter.
What did Sreesanth say about his spat with Gambhir?
“I wanted to address the recent incident involving Mr. Fighter, someone known for consistently picking fights with colleagues without any apparent reason. He doesn’t extend respect even to senior players, including Viru Bhai. Today’s encounter was no different. Without any provocation, he persistently used offensive language towards me, which was highly inappropriate and certainly not expected from someone of Mr. Gautam Gambhir’s stature. This is what I wanted to clarify in a video shared on my Instagram handle,” said Sreesanth.
And, the Indian fast bowler has now found himself in trouble. By justifying his act on social media, he has violated the code of conduct. The notice sent by LLC mentions that Sreesanth breached his contract during the tournament.
In another video that Sreesanth posted on his social media handle, Sreesanth claimed that Gambhir continuously called him a ‘fixer’, which hurt him a lot. The umpires and match officials present during that game also sent their reports. However, none of the reports mentioned Gambhir calling him a ‘fixer’.
The LLC, further, stated that they would only have a word with the pacer once he put down all the videos he posted on his social media handles. S Sreesanth’s wife also didn’t shy away from criticizing Gambhir for his behavior on the field.

Sreesanth’s wife said that it’s said to hear from Sree about a former teammate, someone with whom they shared the field for many years representing India, stooping to such a level. Even after retiring from active cricket for quite some time, the fact that such behavior persists speaks volumes about one’s upbringing. She emphasized the significance of upbringing, stating that behavior on the field is a clear reflection of one’s values, and in this instance, it was undeniably shocking.
A few videos are circulating on social media with regards to S Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir’s on-field spat. One of those videos clearly showed that it was the former Indian pacer who provoked Gambhir by sledging him when the latter was batting. And what followed was a heated exchange of words between the two.
