On September 4 in Pallekele, India faced Nepal for the first time in their history in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The Men in Blue won the toss and chose to bowl first in the game. The seven-time champions dropped three catches in the opening ten overs. As a result, the Nepalese got off to a good start. Even though they faltered in the middle overs, their lower order contributed to the team’s total of 230 runs.
The game was shortened to 23 overs after the first innings due to rain. The game was won by the former champions by a margin of ten wickets. Shubman Gill and skipper Rohit Sharma both got fifties as the team reached the mark in 20.1 overs. As a result, India has advanced to the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Following the game, Indian players presented the medal to their Asian counterparts.

Rhinos have been on the rise in recent months. They debuted in the ODI World Cup qualifiers 2023 in June of this year. The match was delayed by nearly two hours due to rain, forcing the umpires to reduce the 50-over battle to 23 overs during India’s chase.
Meanwhile, Nepal would be tremendously happy with its performance against top-ranked Pakistan and heavyweight India. They also get a lot of knowledge and expertise from these two encounters.
