WWE has produced some strong Champions over the years. Currently, there are several major champions who are enjoying long reigns with top titles. However, WWE fans are not convinced by Austin Theory’s reign, who has been holding the United States title for a long time. Fans feel that he hasn’t really entertained in recent months. Roman Reigns, Rhea Ripley, and Gunther are doing well with their respective titles, but Theory seems to be lacking something and has failed to impress the fans.
Fans are disappointed by Theory’s reign
Theory’s last notable title defense was against John Cena at WrestleMania 39. Since his defense against the 16-time World Champion, Austin hasn’t done anything noteworthy. Recently, Sean Ross Sapp reported about the record Austin has broken. According to his report, Austin now holds the record for the longest United States Title reign after Dean Ambrose, and this is also the third longest in the last 30 years.
The statistics reported by Sapp didn’t impress the fans, and they think Theory’s title reign has been really disappointing. Many fans wrote that they didn’t care about his title reign. One of the fans wrote that the length doesn’t matter but the only thing that matters is what you do with the title, while another fan wrote that this is the worst title reign ever.
The title might drop to another star
It seems that WWE needs to set up some good rivalries and peak matches for Austin Theory if they want him to be a top star in the company. He received an early push but failed after the top rivalries against Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins. It might be better off dropping the title to another star in the upcoming events. The title race might help the 26-year-old gain something.
Theory needs to be rebuilt
This year at SummerSlam, WWE booked the Slim Jim Battle Royal, and instead of giving Theory a title defense at the event, the team made him one of the entrants in the battle royal. This Battle Royal was won by LA Knight, and the United States Champion was left slightly humiliated. It seems like the higher authorities are losing interest in him too. If they want him to stay relevant, they need some interesting matchups, and Austin also needs to rebuild himself in the coming months.
