There has been a lot of debate about the country that invented football down the years. Football, also known as soccer in various regions of the world, has a lengthy history. In the middle of the 19th century, football developed in its modern form in England. Alternative forms of the game did, however, exist far earlier and are documented in the history of football.
The Beginning
The first known examples of team games were created by ancient Mesoamerican tribes. Over 3,000 years ago, a ball made of rock was used in these sports. The game, known as Tchatali, was invented by the Aztecs even though it was played in many different forms all throughout the world. On some ritual occasions, the ball can stand in for the sun. The captain of the losing team might be sacrificed to the gods. No other early culture had access to rubber, therefore a rubber-made bouncing ball was a distinctive feature of Mesoamerican types of ball sports.
Between the third and second centuries BC, Chinese people played cuju, the earliest known kick-and-ball game. Cuju was played on a square field with a leather ball that was sewn and had fur or feathers inside. Later, in ceremonial settings, a modified version of this game called kemari was played, and it was introduced to Japan.It’s possible that marn gook, a ball game played by Aboriginal Australians and described as such by white settlers in the 1800s, predates cuju. The ball was made from roots or leaves that had been enclosed. The game’s rules are essentially ambiguous, like in many other early versions.
Football in its current state
The most widely recognized view holds that England was the place where football was first played in the 12th century. In this century, English fields and roadways were used for football-like sports. The game included fist strikes at the ball in addition to kicks. Additionally, the early version of football was much harsher and tougher than the game is now.
A crucial characteristic of football’s forerunners was that they involved large audiences and were played in crowded cities (a game similar to football known as “calcio” was played in Florence starting in the 16th century). These games would go on the rampage, wrecking the town and occasionally murdering the players. These could be some of the arguments used to support statements that the game should be prohibited, as it eventually was for many centuries. But street football matches would return to London in the 17th century. Even though it would be banned once more in 1835, the game had already started to take off in public schools at this point.
The Evolution
It took some time, though, for the components of contemporary football to start appearing in competitions. For a very long time, there was no real distinction between rugby and football. The size of the ball, the number of players, and the length of a game were all subject to wide fluctuations. Of the more well-known schools where the game was commonly played, Rugby and Eton were both frequent participants. The ball could be picked up with hands according to rugby’s rules. The modern sport of rugby developed from this point on. The game played at Eton, on the other hand, was very similar to modern football in that the ball was always played with the feet.
An effort to create appropriate game rules was attempted in 1848 during a meeting in Cambridge, but no comprehensive solution to all rule-related problems could be discovered. It was a crucial turning point in football history when the first Football Association of England, the country where football was invented, was founded in London in 1863. It was decided that hand transporting the ball was against the rules. The gathering also served to standardize the weight and size of the ball. the separation of the sport into rugby and association football as a result of the London summit.

Another shift started to emerge gradually when some clubs began to provide the best players with financial incentives to join their team. Beginning with this, the game would enter a protracted period of change characterized by strife and progress to a very high level of professionalism.
