CM Punk made a heartbreaking announcement on the latest episode of Monday night’s RAW, revealing that he will miss this year’s WrestleMania. He suffered a tricep tear during the Men’s Royal Rumble match, which will lead to his hiatus from the company now. This shocking announcement has definitely shaken the WWE Universe and the company, as WrestleMania 40 is just a few months away. However, the biggest question is when the “Cookie Monster” will return to WWE.
When is Punk expected to return ?
Typically, a tricep tear takes about four to six months to heal after surgery. Which means that SummerSlam 2024 could be marked as the next possible premium live event where “The Best in the World” could enter. However, American journalist Dave Meltzer recently mentioned on the Wrestling Observer Radio episode that September was a possible target for CM Punk to return to the company. Whatever the case, WWE fans will definitely see the Chicago native in the WWE ring once again before the end of 2024.
Punk confronted Drew McIntyre
After his emotional announcement on WWE RAW, CM Punk was confronted by Drew McIntyre. “The Scottish Warrior” showed his villainous side, saying he prayed for CM Punk to get injured. The segment ended in a physical brawl where Drew stood upright. During the segment, Punk seemingly confirmed that he would face McIntyre upon his return. He said that he will fulfill his dream of main-eventing WrestleMania next year, but first he will come after the Scotsman once he returns to action. This is a strong indication of a possible clash between these two superstars in the near future.

Additionally, McIntyre’s contract situation would also have been cleared in this segment. If “The Scottish Warrior” is set to become Punk’s opponent following his return, it could mean him re-signing with WWE, as his current contract was expected to expire after WrestleMania 40. It will be interesting to see what happens when CM Punk returns to WWE following his injury.
