Three fighters have been dropped from the UFC roster in the run-up to the promotion’s latest release. The first one was highly anticipated for one-time flyweight Tyson Nam. He was released last month after consecutive losses against Bruno Silva and Azar Maksum. Nam has enjoyed a 3-5 stint in the promotion, where he completed all his victories and earned bonuses for two of them as well.
The Boston Strong is also released
Featherweight Veteran Charles Rosa was also dropped from the UFC roster recently. He was coming off a three-fight comeback, dropping consecutive decisions against Damon Jackson, TJ Brown, and Nathaniel Wood. The ‘Boston Strong’ made his promotional debut in 2014, but he could never quite get the winning streak going during his 5-8 stints in the promotion. Rosa’s early defeats came against future prospects like Yair Rodriguez, Shane Burgos, and Bryce Mitchell.
The confirmation about expired contracts and renewal is pending
Women’s flyweight Mandy Bohn has also been dropped from the roster after her short stint. Mandy dropped back-to-back decisions against Ariane Lipski and Victoria Leonardo in her first two bouts, her release came after she earned her first win against Ji Yeon Kim at UFC Charlotte in May. Although it is yet to be confirmed whether or not the fighters have been released from the promotion altogether or if their current contracts have expired and the renewal is pending,
More fighters were released in July
Now the UFC is planning on revamping a large portion of its roster. The latest spree of releases from the world’s largest MMA promotion comes barely a month after it released 14 fighters, including some renowned names. On July 4, six fighters, Makwan Amirkhani, Danaa Batgerel, Tony Gravely,Omar Morales, Mounir Lazzez, and Trevin Jones, were also removed. A day later, eight more names were taken off the roster, which came as a shock for UFC fans.
