Sting recently ended his career in professional wrestling, competing in his final match as he finished his AEW career undefeated after 30 wins. His final few months had people talking about his stellar career in the wrestling industry. He was able to accomplish the most throughout his time in wrestling, competing for the biggest companies and winning several titles. However, it is not possible for a wrestler to do it all and Sting is no exception, as there are some things that even he has never achieved in wrestling.
10) Fighting against Kenny Omega
Kenny Omega is one of the best wrestlers of all time, that’s why fans wanted to see him fight against Sting. Pitting two great wrestlers against each other is something the fans would have loved and this is a match that could have easily happened. The Elite facing Sting, Darby Allin and another partner would have been a fun moment and certainly could have been the main event of a PPV.
9) Appear on Jericho’s Annual Cruise
Chris Jericho’s annual cruises have become a popular destination for professional wrestling fans, which is why they sell out. Many big moments have happened because of it and many of wrestling’s biggest stars have stepped into it, but not Sting. This is surprising considering Jericho’s ties to AEW. “Lionheart” has brought in a lot of AEW stars over the years and the company once did an episode of AEW Dynamite, but Sting has yet to appear on it.
8) Appear on ECW
Sting has wrestled for many big promotions around the world, like WWE, WCW, TNA, NJPW and AEW, all of which helped him build such an illustrious career. However, ECW was the biggest company he never performed for. “The Icon” could have been a great addition to the company and even if it was just a one-time moment, it could have been a lot of fun to watch and put his character in a completely different environment.
7) Show up for Ring of Honor
Ring of Honor is one of the most prestigious wrestling promotions of all time, and while Sting was already an established wrestler, he could still have come to ROH. Many greats often came to ROH for a brief moment, but that never came for him. Even when Tony Khan bought the company, Sting did not come. His coming for even just one promo could have been a big shot for the promotion.
6) Fight in Blood & Guts
Every wrestling company loves to create their own big stipulation match that they can promote extensively. For AEW, it is Blood & Guts. It often causes major bumps for those inside. Sting pushed himself to his limits during his time in AEW, including several major upsets, which is why he would have been suited for this stipulation. But he was never booked in it.
5) Participate in a Royal Rumble match
Sting has participated in many iconic matches throughout his wrestling career, leading to many memorable stipulations. However, one of the most popular is the Royal Rumble, and it’s something Sting has never been a part of in his entire career. This is largely due to the fact that he has spent a large amount of his career outside of WWE, but getting him in that match would have been fun at any time. If he had appeared in the Royal Rumble, he would have received a huge reaction, but unfortunately, that never happened.
4) Compete in a singles match in AEW
Sting spent a good amount of his career in AEW, but he never competed in an AEW singles match. After ending his career, he spent four years with the company, and despite putting in a lot of time and competing frequently, he never fought alone. There were a lot of dream singles matches available for Sting in AEW and there is no doubt that he would have been able to win one of them. However, his entire tenure was spent either on a tag team with Darby Allin or competing in multi-man matches with more people.
3) Win a match at WrestleMania
Sting fighting at WrestleMania is something that most people thought would never happen for a long time, so the fact that he appeared on the grandest stage of them all made the audience happy, but unfortunately he got defeated. Most people thought that Sting was certain to defeat Triple H, given the momentum behind him, but that didn’t happen. In a strange decision, WWE had Triple H defeat “The Icon.” Hence, Sting never won a match at WrestleMania.
2) Win a title in WWE
Sting retired as a champion in professional wrestling, as he and Darby Allin were the AEW World Tag Team Champions when he ended his career. Sting’s career has been full of titles, but he has never been able to add any titles to his career with WWE. He competed for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions in 2015, but he lost to Seth Rollins and got injured at the same time. That brought an abrupt end to his in-ring WWE career.
1) A big match against the Undertaker
One of the biggest things that Sting was never able to achieve was to compete against The Undertaker in a major match. Even the fans desperately wanted to see these two iconic wrestlers compete against each other. Although they technically faced each other once, that happened at a house show in 1990, when Undertaker was working under his Mean Mark character. People wanted The Undertaker vs. Sting, which could have been the main event of WrestleMania.
