The Hundred announced a retention list for the 2024 season & a whopping 137 players have been retained across the men’s & women’s categories while 75 spots will be filled by the new acquisitions. The key highlight of the overseas retention list is the domination of the Australian players across both men’s & Women’s teams. Out of the 16 overseas retentions, nine were Australians.
As per the Hundred tournament rules men’s teams can retain upto 10 players apart from the centrally contracted players in each team on the other hand Women’s teams can retain upto 8 players in the list.
Coming to the teams with maximum retention, Manchester Originals Men who have Jos Buttler & Oval Invincibles who have Same Curran & Adam Zampa in their team have gone for Maximum retention. On the other hand, London Spirit Men who have Zak Crawley in the lineup went for just 8 retentions.
Coming to the women’s teams, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, and Southern Brave have filled their quota of retention while Birmingham Phoenix retained seven, including overseas players Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine.
Meanwhile, the biggies of International Cricket such as Dawid Malan, Jason Roy, Amy Jones & other International Players will be picked when the Players Draft takes place on March 20. The full list of players available for the draft will be revealed on March 4. While the Hundred 2024 will begin on 23rd July.
