Wrestling and the world of combat sports has always been overlapped as the two things are similar in nature. Recently the former ONE Featherweight World Champion Thanh Le paid a tribute to one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time at ONE Fight Night 15. Thanh Le faced the Russian rising star Ilya Freymanov for the ONE Interim Featherweight MMA World Championship.
Le’s post-fight celebration was inspired by “The Great One”
Thanh and Freymanov are two of the most feared featherweights around the world, and fans were eager to see who comes out on top between these two fighters. The Russian was able to land some offense on the seasoned veteran, but Le’s experience allowed him to make his opponent submit in the very first round. The fight ended in just 1 minute and 2 seconds. Thanh’s post-fight celebration with his coach and brother Vinh was recently posted on ONE Championship’s Instagram page. The celebration was inspired by the eight-time WWE Champion, The Rock. Fans were quick to spot the reference.

The video was liked by Dustin Poirier, and there were comments like “The Rock Smack” and “I thought those were thumbtacks” by the fans. One of the fans even wrote that, of course Dustin Poirier liked this video because he knows what it’s like to be hit with the People’s elbow.
The Vietnamese-American will face Kai in March
Very few people imagined the 38-year-old Thanh Le capturing the cold after he was defeated by Tang Kai at ONE 160 in 20222 and lost his ONE Featherweight MMA World Championship. Le believes that the Chinese star did not completely beat him at his own game, as in his eyes, it was just a decision win. Le’s shot at redemption against Tang Kai will come on March 1 at ONE 166, when they will face each other for the undisputed ONE Featherweight MMA World Title at the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
