Suryakumar Yadav might miss few games in IPL 2024

Suryakumar Yadav might miss few games in IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians star batter Suryakumar Yadav has been sidelined from Cricket for a few fixtures in the IPL 2024. This is because he is recovering from sports hernia surgery.  As per the reports, Suryakumar was trying to return to the field for MI but he will have to wait for some time to get completely fit & return to action.

Here’s what the BCCI source had to say:

“Surya is making very good progress and very soon he will be back playing for MI. However, he might have to sit out for a few more games, having missed the first two.”

Mumbai Indians desperately need Suryakumar Yadav’s services as they have gotten off to a poor start in the IPL 2024, losing back-to-back fixtures & yet to score their maiden points.

The source further highlighted BCCI’s perspective on Suryakumar Yadav’s recovery and made it clear that the idea is to ensure the star batter is available for India in the T20 World Cup, to be played in June later this year.

And to ensure his complete fitness & participation in T20 World Cup 2024 it is essential to not rush SJY to competitive cricket as there is a risk of having a severe effect on his sports hernia surgery.

“For BCCI, the main concern is if he is on course for World T20 (T20 World Cup) which he is. He will play for MI but after a sports hernia surgery, he can’t be rushed,” the source concluded.

Coming to SKY he had a stellar IPL season last year where he returned with a staggering 605 runs in 16 matches which includes five half centuries & a hundred at a mind-boggling strike rate of 181.14 in the season overall. Mumbai Indians are badly in need of Suryakumar’s services as they are lagging at the bottom of the Points Table. But it seems like they have to wait for some more days to get their star player back into the lineup.
