‘Miyan Magic‘ spread across Wankhede with India registering a blistering 302-run win over Sri Lanka to march into the semi-finals of CWC 2023. Since Shami’s inclusion in India’s Playing XI, the pace trio has wreaked havoc with the ball by dismantling Sri Lanka’s batting order. Chasing a target of 357 runs, Bumrah on his first ball of the over sent Nissanla back to the hut with the latter dismissing for a duck.
‘Miyan Magic’ & Shami’s lethal spell did the trick for India in CWC 2023
Then came Siraj who displayed ‘Miyan magic’ & took the entire Sri Lankan team by storm. Right on his very first delivery, he dismissed Karunaratne for a duck. Samarawickrama was the next to fall in the same over. He struck once again on the first ball by rattling Captain Kusal Mendis’s stumps & sending him back to the hut for a score of 1 (10). Then came Charith Asalanka & Angelo Matthews restricted Sri Lanka’s innings. But Shami’s introduction did the rest of the job for India.
In his first over he claimed two consecutive wickets sending Asalanka & Hemantha back to the hut. Shami was going strong with the ball & was all set to take quick wickets. KL Rahul’s brilliant call behind the stumps helped Shami register his third wicket of the day in the face of Chameera. Shami then claimed his fourth wicket by breaching Matthews’s defence & rattling his bails ending his stint at 12. Four overs later, Shami’s hunt for the wicket came to an end as he registered his fifth wicket of the day by removing Rajitha for 14 & taking India to a thumping win. Ravindra jadeja did the rest of the job by claiming the final wicket & registering a 302-run win.
