The Golden State Warriors re-signed Draymond Green, sent Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards and added veteran Chris Paul to their ranks before the new season of the NBA. In their latest move, they signed guard Jerome Robinson and forward Usman Garuba to two-way contracts. In an active offseason, Golden State has tried to strike the right balance between youth and experience, as they have added some young talent alongside their veteran stars. However, it can’t be denied that their hopes for another title rest heavily on Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Adding Paul to the team gets them more experience and potential, but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee a championship. In this article, we will tell you about some reasons why the Golden State Warriors might not win the 2023–24 title.
The competition will be tough

The NBA 2023 offseason started with a bang and saw amazing trades like Bradley Beal joining the Phoenix Suns and Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday going down, indicating that the franchise is doing everything possible to win titles. Both the Eastern and Western Conference teams are on edge, so the Warriors will have to bring their best game to every contest to have a chance to reach the playoffs without a play-in. This is definitely not as easy as the Suns, LA Lakers, Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks, and Denver Nuggets are all loaded for the season.
Team lacks depth

While the team certainly has promising players like Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, Moses Moody, and Saric, they lack playoff experience compared to the starters. This could hinder the team’s chances in the postseason. The lack of depth means tough competition from teams that have more personnel in their ranks and can do as good a job with the starters. If one of the prominent stars gets injured, the Warriors bench does not have players of the same level to replace.
Aging Factor

The Golden State Warriors found success when Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green were at their best together. However, injuries and inconsistency played a role in their struggles last year, and with Curry now approaching 36, Thompson and Green 34, the core of the team is getting older. While their IQ and championship DNA remain intact, the 38-year-old Paul will face much tougher challenges against the youngsters of faster teams. The Warriors may rely heavily on experience, but this can only carry them forward if the physical aspect is not at the same level.
