Ranji Trophy 2024: Karnataka Captain Mayank Agarwal is all set to rejoin the squad after receiving fitness clearance from the management. Notably, he missed the fixture against the Railways due to medical issues. He was admitted to the hospital after feeling uneasy & vomiting. For the unversed, Mayank was on a flight when he consumed liquor from a bottle that he believed contained drinking water. Due to that he felt unease & started vomiting.
Later, Mayank confirmed that he was fit & fine & there were no major issues. As per reports after the incident the Karnataka team manager on behalf of Mayank had requested Tripura Police to invetsigate about the incident. The Karnataka team manager has given a written complaint to K Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Tripura West) and a case has been registered under the jurisdiction of the New Capital Complex Police Station in Agartala.
Now that Mayank Agarwal is fit & fine his return to the lineup will be a boost for the team as he has been a crucial figure in domestic cricket. In the ongoing season, Mayank has struck two centuries & a fifty. However, despite Mayank’s absence & Devdutt fulfilling his commitments with India A, Karnataka registered a gleaming win against Railways.
In the absence of Mayank, Jose led the Karnataka team & bundled them on 174 in the first innings. Later in the second innings, Railways managed to surpass the target of 226 with a wicket in hand. Manish Pandey’s 67* played a crucial role in Karnataka’s triumph

Agarwal’s return will boost their batting as Karnataka’s opener so far has scored 310 runs from four matches at an average of 44 with two tons & a fifty. Their lineup will further be boosted with the return of in-form batter Padikkal who is also available for selection in this match.
From the last three matches, the batter has amassed 369 runs at an average of 92.25 with two hundreds.
Padikkal missed the last fixture because the 23-year-old was a part of India A squad that faced the England Lions in Ahmedabad. Opener Dega Nischal and Abishek Shetty moved aside for Agarwal and Padikkal.
