Prithvi Shaw Joins Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire has made a significant addition to their squad for the One-Day Cup by signing India’s young batsman and Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw. Shaw last played cricket in IPL 2023.
The 23-year-old right-handed batter made an impressive Test debut with a score of 134 against West Indies in Rajkot back in October 2018. With nearly 9,000 runs across all formats under his belt, Shaw will be available throughout the competition, which kicks off on Tuesday.
This will be a huge opportunity for Shaw who has continuously been looked from national selection management. It will be a great opportunity for the young right handed batter to put his talent and maturity on show in One-day Cup.

He believes that Shaw is coming to prove himself and elevate his game, especially after facing the pressure of living up to the expectations set by his early career success. Despite being slightly off the radar recently, Shaw is eager to showcase his best and earn a place back in the Indian national team.
Northamptonshire, led by wicketkeeper Lewis McManus, will commence their One-Day Cup campaign on Friday against Gloucestershire at the College Ground in Cheltenham. Although the club clinched the T20 Blast title in 2013 and 2016, they have not won a trophy in a longer limited-overs format for 31 years.
With Shaw’s inclusion, they hope to improve upon their performance from the previous season when they finished near the bottom of their group with only two wins from eight games. Shaw boasts an impressive List A cricket average of 52, with his highest score being an unbeaten 227 off 152 balls for Mumbai against Puducherry in 2021.
