Pakistan Tour Of Ireland for three T20Is Confirmed in May

Pakistan are all set for a tour of Ireland to play a three-match T20I series in a bid to prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Notably, this is their first meeting since 2018 as they had last played a Test in 2018. Sarfaraz Khan-led Pakistan won that Test match by 5 wickets.

The two teams were also slated to play two T20 internationals against Pakistan in 2018 but were postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The two teams are now all set to meet for a three-T20I series, starting 10th May 2024.

Pakistan Tour of Ireland To Commence on May 10

The three T20Is will be played on 10th, 12th and 14th May. All the matches will be played at Castle Avenue in Dublin. Pakistan already have a couple of T20I assignments lined up ahead and with the addition of this series, they now have a total of 12 T20I fixtures heading into the T20 Cup 2024.

The Men in Green are also scheduled to host New Zealand for a five-match T20I series next month before touring Ireland. After that, they will also be touring England to play four T20 internationals as part of the preparation for the marquee tournament.

Pakistan’s last T20I assignment was also against New Zealand, where they were hammered 4-1. Under the captaincy of Shaheen Afridi, the Men in Green lost the first four games before winning the final fixture.

Meanwhile, Ireland, recently, played a multi-format series against Afghanistan in the UAE. They stunned Afghanistan after winning their first-ever Test match but it was followed with thrashing in the ODI as well as T20I series.

Notably, both Pakistan and Ireland are in the same group (Group A) in the T20 World Cup 2024. The likes of India, the Netherlands, and the USA are also placed in the same group.

The Men in Green were also slated to play against the Netherlands in a three-match T20I series in May. However, PCB opted to postpone the series indefinitely last November, citing scheduling clashes and concerns about player workload. PCB, at that time, had said that they were looking to find a new window to conduct the series.
