There comes a revolutionary move in Pakistan Women’s Cricket as the PCB has ended domestic contracts for women’s cricket to 72 players. The awarded contract will be valid for 11 months & include 43 players who are classified as emerging cricketers. While the announced Women’s domestic contracts have 16 U19 players. Thirteen players who have featured in International cricket are also on the list of Pakistan Women’s Domestic Contracts list.
The Players who were demoted from Central Contracts to domestic contracts as Javeria Khan, Kainat Imtiaz, Anam Amin, Iram Javed, and Gull Feroza. All 74 cricketers will be paid the same monthly salary but their match appearance fees as well as travel & accommodation costs will change. Though the salaries won’t see a much hike the Women players being awarded domestic contracts will mark the progress of women’s cricket in Pakistan. In addition, the players will be offered a share of prize money after winning any contest.
“These domestic contracts have been conferred upon individuals who have displayed remarkable performances across various cricketing platforms, including domestic cricket tournaments, emerging tournaments, U-19 domestic tournament, and the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup,”
the PCB press release said.
What Zaka Ashraf said on announcing Pakistan Women’s domestic contracts
Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of PCB, warmly congratulated the 74 women cricketers who have secured these contracts through their unwavering dedication and remarkable talent. He expressed that this momentous occasion signifies a joyful milestone for the Pakistan Cricket Board, representing a historic stride towards elevating women’s cricket in the country.
Ashraf emphasized that this endeavor is more than just contractual agreements; it embodies an investment in the hopes and ambitions of these remarkable athletes. He underlined that the women cricketers of Pakistan have consistently showcased extraordinary skills and unwavering commitment on the field, and it is now the opportune moment to provide them with the platform they rightfully deserve.
With the announcement of Pakistan Women’s Domestic Contracts, it’s expected that soon the board will release Central Contracts also. The new Central Contracts for Pakistan Women’s Cricket will see a substantial rise in retainers and daily allowances. None of the players who have been offered domestic contracts will be part of the group that is centrally contracted.
