New Zealand Crushes Pakistan with as Finn Allen Hits Record-Breaking Knock
In a display of pure power hitting, New Zealand opener Finn Allen smashed a world-record-equaling 16 sixes in a blistering innings of 137 runs from just 62 balls, leading his team to a dominating 45-run victory over Pakistan in the third Twenty20 international on Wednesday.
This win secured a decisive 3-0 lead for New Zealand in the five-match series. Allen’s knock not only equaled the record for most sixes in a T20 international innings, set by Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan, but also established a new high score for a New Zealander in the format, surpassing Brendon McCullum’s 123 against Bangladesh in 2012.
Chasing a mammoth 225-run target set by New Zealand after being put in to bat, Pakistan’s chase faltered once again. Despite another half-century from Babar Azam (58), the visitors were restricted to 179-7, marking their third consecutive defeat in the series.
A Masterclass in Power Hitting by Finn Allen
Finn Allen started the onslaught very early, launching consecutive sixes off Shaheen Shah Afridi in the third over. He continued to punish the Pakistani bowlers, with three more sixes off Haris Rauf in the sixth over, taking a particular liking to his Major League Cricket teammate. His fifty came off just 26 balls, showcasing his aggressive intent.
Two of his sixes cleared the ground entirely, with one even sailing over the rugby ground adjacent to the stadium. He put on a 125-run partnership with Tim Seifert (31) for the second wicket, laying the foundation for New Zealand’s imposing total.
Allen unleashed a relentless onslaught against the Pakistani bowlers, punishing every delivery with brutal efficiency. He devoured full-length balls with disdain, sending them hurtling to the boundary, and swatted away short balls with ferocious pulls. The Pakistani attack was left bewildered and helpless, unable to stem the flow of runs as Allen unleashed a hailstorm of boundaries.
Pakistan’s chase never really got going. They lost early wickets and despite Babar Azam’s valiant effort, lacked partnerships and momentum to seriously challenge the target. This defeat extends their winless streak in T20 internationals to seven matches, raising concerns ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
New Zealand’s emphatic victory an record-breaking innings by Fin Allen have put them in a dominant position in the series. Pakistan, on the other hand, will need to find solutions quickly if they want to avoid a clean sweep.
