Indian Cricket team registered their first win in the T20I series on Wednesday by clinching the third T20I. However, it was Hardik Pandya winning six grabbed the limelight but not for good reasons. This is because youngster Tilak Verma was batting at 49* on the other end & Hardik Pandya denied him a a much deserved fifty by scoring winning runs.
if he was provided the opportunity to hit the winning runs for India then it would have been his second consecutive fifty in his debut T20I series. But Hardik Pandya actually did the opposite of what was expected from him. He himself hit the winning shot & left Tilak Verma stranded on the other end at 49*. The moment Hardik Pandya choose to hit the ball for a six instead of giving the strike to Tilak, fans slammed him for being selfish & denying the youngster a much-deserved fifty.

Even an old video clip of MS Dhoni’s selfless action started doing rounds in the media. In the clip, MS Dhoni was seen playing a good ball for a dot shot in the 19th over & allowing Virat Kohli to hit the winning runs. The fixture was during a crucial T20 World Cup semi-final against South Africa. Chasing 173 to win, India found themselves struggling at 77-2. However, Kohli helped India to stay alive in the chase by scoring 72 off 44 balls with five fours & two sixes. His gleaming knock helped India to qualify for T20 World Cup 2014 finals. Just like Pandya Dhoni could have smashed the ball for a six but he didn’t think of himself and instead handed Virat Kohli an opportunity to hit the winning runs.

Recently, Hardik Pandya’s stump mic audio clip got viral in which he was saying Tilak Verma to stay & finish the match. But in the end, why Captain changed his mind is still not known. But Hardik’s gesture has been termed as selfish as he has taken the decision as a player, not as the captain.

He was all set to register his second consecutive fifty in the third T20I & achieve a unique record of two consecutive half-centuries in his debut series. But Hardik Pandya didn’t allow young sensation, Tilak Verma to achieve this feat by denying him the strike. Netizens criticized Pandya’s Selfish act & lauded Dhoni for his selfless act.
West Indies are leading the series by 2-1 scores & the action now shifts to Florida, USA where the final two fixtures of the series will be played.
