There have been many spectacular and remarkable fights in the UFC that ended in just a couple of seconds, but the fights become more historic when they are for a title. In this article, we will tell you about the fastest finishes in the UFC title fights that will always be remembered.
10. Weili Zhang vs. Jessica Andrade – UFC Strawweight title
Weili Zhang was an underdog challenger in this match, but she stunned everyone by defeating the UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade in just 42 seconds to capture the title. After winning the match, Zhang also became the first UFC champion to come from China and the first Asian UFC champion . Andrade, who defeated all her previous opponents with big attacks, seemed very confident before the fight and came with aggression, taking “Magnum” down and trying to land her big punches. But despite a strong early blow, Andrade got a big hit from Zhang.
Zhang began to hit Andrade with knees and elbows to the head, and once it was clear that she was hurt, Zhang launched a flurry of punches that knocked the “Bate Estaca” and the referee was forced to stop her. It was one of the memorable matches of 2019.
9. Ronda Rousey vs. Bethe Correia – UFC Bantamweight title
One of the biggest stars of the UFC, Ronda Rousey made a big name for herself as a brutal finisher during her reign as UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. But despite not being her fastest finish, her knockout of Bethe Correia at UFC 190 was perhaps her most violent performance. The fight was in Correia’s home country Brazil, but the fans seemed to be on Rousey’s side. When the fight began, it was clear that Correia wanted nothing to do with her opponent’s grappling game , but striking with her also didn’t seem like a good idea either.
The “Pitbull” dragged the champion into a wild trade of punches, but despite landing a few shots, she found herself outmatched. Just 34 seconds into the fight, a big right hand on the face made her unconscious and “Rowdy” made her sixth consecutive title defense.
8. Henry Cejudo vs. TJ Dillashaw – UFC Flyweight title
Reigning Flyweight Champion Henry Cejudu was booked against Bantamweight King TJ Dillashaw in a Superfight. As the fight began,Cejudo pushed Dillashaw to the ground just seconds into the fight. Moments later, he followed with a spectacular head kick and right hand that dropped Dillashaw, and from there, he made no mistake, finishing his opponent with a flurry of punches. The fight lasted only 32 seconds and although “Lieutenant Dan” protested for a stoppage, there was no doubt who was better. It was the biggest win of Cejudo’s career.
7. Tito Ortiz vs. Evan Tanner – UFC Light-Heavyweight title
In 2001, light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz was the biggest star in the UFC. Although Ortiz’s wrestling-heavy style was not the most exciting sometimes, it was highly effective and brought him both fame and infamy. When UFC’s first show under its new owners was put together, Ortiz faced challenger Evan Tanner in the main event with the hope that he could continue his run and he didn’t disappoint. The “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” didn’t disappoint and delivered the best highlight moment of his career.
The two men met in the center of the octagon just seconds into the fight and after a low kick and a few punches, Ortiz gave Tanner a bodylock and threw him to the ground. Tanner’s head hit the mat hard and even the follow-up punches were not needed. Tanner was knocked out in just 30 seconds and Ortiz had a big moment.
6. Frank Shamrock vs. Igor Zinoviev – UFC Middleweight title
Frank Shamrock is without a doubt one of the most dominant UFC champions of all time. His finish of Igor Zinoviev in his middleweight title defense wasn’t his quickest , but it is still remembered because of the sheer brutality seen in the match. When the fight began, Zinoviev came forward and got a few leg kicks before countering Shamrock, but the Middleweight Champion had an ace. He threw the “”Houdini” into the air before throwing him hard onto the ground and smashing his shoulders into his jaw, knocking him out instantly.
5. Frank Shamrock vs. Kevin Jackson – UFC Middleweight title
This win gave Frank Shamrock the UFC’s inaugural middleweight title. This victory wasn’t as violent as the one he got over Zinoviev, but it was six seconds faster, giving him two UFC title wins in just 38 seconds. For this fight, “The Legend” faced Olympic gold medalist Kevin Jackson. “The Moose” had more UFC experience coming into the fight than Shamrock, as he already won the UFC 14 middleweight tournament, but Shamrock had more MMA experience with a vast career in Japan.
Frank landed a takedown in the opening seconds of the match and before Jackson could think about what he was going to do next, he found himself on the receiving end of a horrifying fast armbar. He tapped out soon and the match was over, giving Frank another historic win.
4. Ronda Rousey vs. Alexis Davis – UFC Bantamweight title
As the fight began, Ronda nailed Davis with a hard right hand that staggered her, and before she could react, “Rowdy” hit her with a perfect hip throw. Davis fell flat on her back and got locked in a headlock, and then Rousey threw rapid punches at her. The fight was over in 16 seconds. This was an impressive and terrifying performance by the UFC star.
3. Andrei Arlovski vs. Paul Buentello – UFC Heavyweight title
When UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski defended against Paul Buentello, fans were expecting a clash. The surprising thing came when the match was over in 15 seconds. First, it seemed that Buentello took a dive in for a takedown and the referee had to stop the fight. But this wasn’t the reality , it was the replays that showed what happened exactly. Arlovski slipped a jab and nailed his opponent with a clean hand counter, which immediately knocked him down and caused him to fall forward. This knockout punch still remains one of the best-timed counters in the history of the UFC.
2. Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano – UFC Bantamweight title
As the fight began, Zingano came out of her corner and threw a flying knee, but the blow simply missed and allowed Rousey to grab the cinch. Both attempted to take each other down, but it was Rousey who got the upper hand on Zingano and went straight for her trademark armbar to make the opponent submit. This was another remarkable finish by Rousey and the amazing thing was that she finished the match in 14 seconds against an opponent who was considered her toughest up to that point.
1. Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo – UFC Featherweight title
This was possibly the biggest UFC title fight ever at the time. UFC fans had a long debate about how the fight would go, but no one could have predicted the horrific ending of the fight. McGregor looked very confident as he entered the octagon, while Aldo looked more tense and nervous. Both men went forward and after some movement from McGregor,Aldo landed a powerful blow, only for the Irishman to retaliate with his perfect left hand, which sent the Brazilian to the ground. “The Notorious” hit some shots, but they weren’t really needed because Aldo was already knocked out in just 13 seconds.
