The BCCI are all set to host the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai later in 2023. The Indian Premier League 2024 auctions are all set to be held between December 15 to 19 in Dubai after the second Women’s Premier League auction which will be held on December 9 in Delhi.
As per a report from a renowned media portal, the IPL 2024 auctions will be held on December 18 to 19 even though they are on weekdays. Last year, the BCCI had fixed Istanbul as a potential venue for the auctions but finally went with Kochi. However, looking at BCCI’s pattern it’s not sure that the IPL 2024 auctions will be held in Dubai but considering all the possibilities it can be the case.
Coming to WPL 2023, BCCI hasn’t provided any details of the auction to the team owners yet. However as Sportsermon.in reported earlier talks are going on for hosting the Women’s Premier League in the February 2024 window. Indian women’s team has international fixtures slated till mid of January & after that, the board is planning to host the Women’s Premier League 2024.
Even the franchisees have not received any confirmation on whether the WPL 2024 will be held in a single city similar to last year when the entire league was hosted in Mumbai or it will be held across different locations.
IPL 2024 to be entirely played in India
The IPL Governing Council Chairman Arun Dhumal has already confirmed that the IPL 2024 will be organized entirely in India despite general Elections being held in the same time period. Dhumal confirmed to a leading news portal last week in Dharamsala, that the schedule of the IPL 2024 will be announced after the dates of the elections.
With Police Officers & security personnel needed for the election dates across India, States will have difficulty in providing security for the IPL 2024 if their dates coincide with the voting process. Even IPL 2019 faced the same issue when the schedule coincided along with the election dates.
“The IPL will be held in India next year. We will need time to make the schedule because it will be made after the Election Committee announces the dates of the general elections. We will have to see when the different states have their elections and will make the schedule accordingly. We will need to wait and will need to work with the government,” Dhumal had said.
IPL 2024 Trading Window is Open
For the unversed, the IPL 2024 trading window is open for players trade but no reports of players exchange among the franchisees have been reported so far. Since this marks the end of the three-year window it is uncertain whether players’ trade will happen or not. But not salaried players who made limited contributions in IPL 2023 could be released ahead of the upcoming edition.
