The star of Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli is all set to take break from white ball cricket. Kohli who has emerged as a phenomenal performer & highest run-scorer in ODI World cup 2023 by amassing 765 runs in 11 innings including three tons needs some time to think about his future in white ball format. As a result, Kohli has decided to take break from white ball cricket & will not play in the T20I & ODI series of India tour of South Africa. However, the prolific player is expected to return for the Test matches of the series.
“He (Kohli) has informed the BCCI and selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and he will get back to them about when he wants to play white-ball cricket next. At the moment he has informed the BCCI that he will be playing red-ball cricket, which means he is available for selection for the two Test matches in South Africa,” a source told Indian Express.

As per the sources Virat Kohli wants to take break from white ball cricket & he has already reported the same to the BCCI. Kohli who is currently holidaying in London along with Anushka has been playing continuous cricket for the past few months and seeks to rejuvenate before the challenging Test series in South Africa. He also want to think about his future in white ball format & the break will provide him quality time to reflect on his decision.
However, Virat Kohli has ensured his availability in the red ball cricket. This means he will stay available for the two Tests slated to be played during india tour of South Africa.
This is not the first time that Kohli has taken a break from cricket to rejuvenate & come back stronger. Last year after India tour of England, Kohli denied from playing in India’s white ball series in West indies & Zimbabwe.

While Virat takes a break from white ball format, there is uncertainty around Rohit’s availability in the white ball formats. Rohit Sharma who led India to 10 unbeaten wins in the ODI World cup 2023 before suffering defeat in the final is currently on break in the UK. As per the reports, Rohit Sharma will have a discussion with BCCI Secretary jay Shah, head coach Rahul Dravid & Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar before deciding about his future in white ball formats.
