KL Rahul engages in conversation with Keshav Maharaj over ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song During IND vs SA 3rd ODI
India registered a comprehensive 78-run win in the third ODI against South Africa on Thursday and, with that, they also won the series by a 2-1 margin. During the third ODI, a heartwarming conversation took place between KL Rahul and Keshav Maharaj when the latter came out to bat.
When Keshav Maharaj was taking guard, a popular devotional song titled ‘Ram Siya Ram’ was played by the BJ. KL Rahul knew that this wasn’t the first time when the song was played upon the arrival of Keshav Maharaj.
Out of curiosity, KL Rahul shared his observation with Majaraj, to which the latter smiled and nodded. While Maharaj was taking guard, KL Rahul said to him,
‘Keshav Bhai, every time you come, they play this song”
For the unversed, Keshav Maharaj’s ancestors were from India. His grandfather lived in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh before migrating to South Africa in 1874. Keshav Maharaj himself is a devotee of Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman. He recently shared a picture of himself visiting Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. He is married to Lerisha Munswamy, who is a Kathak dancer.

Keshav Maharaj made his debut for the South Africa cricket team in October 2016 and has been a regular member of the South Africa Cricket Team across formats, since.
In September 2021, he also got the opportunity to captain the South African Cricket Team in one-day internationals against Sri Lanka. Maharaj returned with an impressive spell of 1 for 37 in 10 overs in the third ODI against India but the latter won the game in the end by 78 runs.
Sanju Samson headlined India’s win in the series decider as he struck his maiden ODI ton at Boland Park in Paarl. Samson came to the crease at number three and struck a 52-run partnership with KL Rahul for the third wicket and a 116-run partnership with Tilak Varma for the fourth wicket to help the team notch a good-looking 296-run total in the first innings.
Arshdeep Singh Starred In India’s Win With A Fourfer
Arshdeep Singh, once again, starred with the ball for India as he used his variations to good effect. His accuracy with the ball was also noteworthy. He picked the important wickets of Reeza Hendricks, Tony de Zorzi, Keshav Maharaj, and Lizaad Williams and returned with a brilliant spell of 4 for 30 in 9 overs.
Courtesy of his impressive display of fast bowling, India bundled out South Africa for 218 and, win that, also won an ODI series against South Africa in South Africa for the second time in their cricketing history.
