The much-awaited IND vs. PAK Clash of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 stage is all set to begin on September 10 at Colombo. However, Rain God seems to have some different plans as indicated by the Colombo Weather Forecast. Initially, the India vs. Pakistan Group stage fixture of the Asia Cup was washed out due to rains & both the teams had to share the points. It seems like history will get repeated in the IND vs. PAK Super 4 clash as well. As per the reports, the Weather Forecast in Colombo is not suitable for a full-fledged cricket game from the last week. Even there are predictions for heavy rainfall on the IND vs. PAK Match Day i.e. 10th of September.
The videos of flooded streets & roads in Colombo ahead of the much anticipated Super 4 clash have been doing rounds on social media. Looking at the constant trends of the last few fixtures getting washed out, the ACC was planning to change the Super 4 clash venue from Colombo to Hambantota. However, the board didn’t go ahead with the decision due to logistical reasons. It’s difficult for the board to make arrangements at an alternate venue at such short notice so they went with keeping the fixture at the decided venue.

Team India had an Indoor training Session due to the rains
The weather has started playing a spoilsport even before the beginning of the IND vs. PAK Asia Cup 2023 fixture. On September 7, team India had an optional indoor training session in Colombo as it was raining in Colombo even on Thursday. As per the Weather forecast for the IND vs. PAK Asia Cup clash, the situation will remain the same for the next two to three days. This gives us a clear picture of how things will unfold when India faces Pakistan in their first Super 4 clash on 10th September. The trend of fixtures getting washed out in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 seems to continue during the IND vs. PAK clash.
Weather Update of Colombo ahead of IND vs. PAK
Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh in their first Super 4 clash on September 9 at Colombo while India will face Pakistan in their first Super 4 clash on 10th September. There is bad news for these teams because as per the Weather forecast, there are heavy chances of rain in Colombo from September 8 to 15. While Precipitation chance is 90 to 100 percent. Notably, the rest of the Super 4 clashes & even the finals are slated to be played in Colombo. This means India’s next two fixtures of the Super 4 against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are also expected to be interrupted by bad weather.
However, India’s last fixture of the Super 4 clash against Bangladesh is expected to have a better playing situation as the percentage of precipitation and cloud cover are less as compared to the previous days.
What happens if all Super 4 matches are washed out?
If all the fixtures of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023 get washed out then Pakistan will automatically qualify for the finals. This is because they are leading the Super 4 Points table by winning their first clash of the Super 4 stage against Bangladesh by seven wickets. The criteria for determining another finalist of Asia Cup 2023 are not clear yet. But there are chances that the NRR of the group stage will be taken into account. If that is the case then India which boasts of a better NRR will qualify for the summit clash & we get to see another IND vs. PAK clash in the final of Asia Cup 2023.
