Team Indian Captain Rohit Sharma has grabbed all the limelight in the recent India vs Afghanistan T20I series as he has returned to the format after a gap of 14 months. During the third T20I Rohit opened the innings with a stunning four but that was given out by umpire Virender Sehwag. However, after the incident, Rohit was seen having a chat with the umpire & he was a completely light-hearted entertainer.
“Arey Viru, pehle wala Thigh pad Diya tha kya? Itna bada bat laga hai. Ek toh idhar 2 zero ho gaya hain.'(Are Viru, you gave it leg byes? it hit the bat man. I already have 2 zeros to my name),” Rohit was heard saying on the stump mic.
Coming to the fixture, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss & opted to bat first in the third & final T20I of the three-match T20I series to be played at M Chinnaswammy Stadium on Wednesday. India is leading the series with 2-0 & will look ahead for a series sweep. This will be their last t20I fixture before the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in June in West Indies & USA.
What did Rohit Sharma say during the toss?
Indian Captain announced three changes to the lineup. They brought in Sanju Samson, Avesh Khan & Kuldeep Yadav to the lineup in place of Jitesh Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, and Axar Patel respectively.
“We’ve decided to take the batting innings this time around. After opting to bowl in the first two matches, we’re switching it up today. It’s not about the wicket; rather, we’re keen on experimenting with some player combinations and offering opportunities. We’ve already achieved a few objectives, and this game presents another chance to test out new talents. Making three changes, we’ve brought in Sanju, Avesh, and Kuldeep while Axar, Jitesh, and Arshdeep are stepping out,” Rohit stated during the toss.
“On our end, we were initially inclined to bowl first. Despite the series’ challenges, we’ve identified some positives, and we’re looking to build on them today. We’ve also introduced three changes to our lineup,” shared Afghanistan’s captain Ibrahim Zadran.
Coming to the fixture, riding on the back of Rohit Sharma & Rinku Singh’s 190-run stand India reached a respectable total of 212 runs in 20 overs. They will now hope to restrict the Afghans from chasing the target & getting over the line.
