The ICC on Tuesday announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month Award for the month of October. The nominations include the top three performers of the group stage fixtures of the ODI World Cup 2023 in October month. Jasprit Bumrah, Quinton De Kock & Rachin Ravindra are the shortlisted candidates for the ICC Player of the Month Award for October.
Talking about India’s Jasprit Bumrah he was at his destructive best with the ball during the league stage fixtures of ODI World Cup 2023. He has scalped some crucial wickets in India’s unbeaten campaign of the tournament to help India book a spot in the semi-finals. The second nominee for the ICC Player of the Month Award is De Kock who is the highest run-scorer for South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2023, registering three tons during South Africa’s beginning of the tournament. Completing the lineup is Rachin Ravindra, who shone in his debut World Cup appearance for New Zealand with classy hundreds against England and Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah
Boom-Boom Bumrah has stayed true to his name as he has displayed spell-bounding performances in the ODI World Cup 2023 while playing for India. He began the campaign with an impressive 2-35 against Australia at Chennai before dismantling Afghanistan with a 4-39 in Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. He continued his havoc with the ball by taking 2-19 in the ‘Player of the Match’ performance against rivals Pakistan in Ahmedabad which included the prized wicket of Mohammad Rizwan with a brilliant slower ball. In total, Bumrah took 14 wickets at an average of 15.07 during October at a staggering economy of 3.91.
2. Quinton De Kock
The Proteas batter has already announced his retirement from the ODI format after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023. But before taking an official retirement from International Cricket, Kock proved to the World what he is capable of by displaying powerpack performances in CWC 2023. Back-to-back centuries against Sri Lanka and Australia opened his account for the tournament, and while he failed in subsequent outings against the Netherlands and England, he smashed 174 against Bangladesh to restore his form. Notably, Bumrah is nominated for the Player of the Match award for the first time since June 2021. He is one of the top contenders to win this accolade considering his stunning score of 431 runs at an average of 71.83 in CWC 2023.
3) Rachin Ravindra
Rachin Ravindra the rising star of New Zealand Cricket has taken the world by storm on the back of his gleaming performances. Having played in just 12 ODIs prior to the CWC 2023, the prolific player grabbed the limelight in the CWC 2023 when he scored 123 runs in 96 balls in the Kiwis fixture against England. It was on the back of his knock that New Zealand won the fixture by 9 wickets. He didn’t stop there as he went on to score crucial half-centuries against Netherlands (51) and India (75) before a glittering 116 against Australia became the talking point. It is Rachin’s hard work that he got nominated for the prestigious ‘Player of the Month’ award with 406 runs at an average of 81.20 in October month.
Women’s Player of the Month Award
Three modern-day icons of Women’s Cricket got shortlisted for the Women’s Player of the Month Award. Bangladesh’s spinner Nahida Akhter, Amelia Kerr & Hayley Matthews are nominated for the prestigious accolade in the Women’s Category.
Coming to the winners, An independent ICC Voting Academy & fans across the globe will cast their votes. On the basis of the Voting Academy & fans’ votes, the winner of the Player of the Month Award will be selected. Fans registered at icc-cricket.com/awards will be able to vote for their favorite performers until Thursday.
