The semifinals of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 are all set to begin with India taking on New Zealand in the first semifinal of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. On the other hand, five-time World Cup Champions Australia will take on South Africa in the second semifinal of the tournament at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.

Coming to ICC ODI World Cup Semi-final 1, India is the only unbeaten team in the tournament so far & they are looking ahead to march into the fixture with nine wins in their kitty. India outclassed the Netherlands by 160 runs in the final league stage fixture on Saturday to march into the semi-finals with a massive win.
On the other hand, New Zealand was the last team to qualify for the semifinals after winning their clash with Sri Lanka and Pakistan’s loss to England guaranteeing them a place in the semi-finals. However, their win to Sri Lanka & their good run in the tournament so far is enough to boost their confidence ahead of this crucial semi-final clash.
ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Semifinal 2: SA vs AUS
The second semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played between South Africa & Australia. The Proteas are the second team to qualify for the marquee event after winning seven of their nine matches. An early loss to the Netherlands was a massive shock for them, & further, they lost a fixture against the hosts after qualifying for the marquee event. This means they need to work on their consistency ahead of this crucial semi-final against Australia.
Coming to Australia, they have marched into the semi-finals on the back of a gleaming win over the Afghans. Initially, Australia lost their fixtures against India & South Africa but they didn’t lose hope & bounced back to win their remaining seven fixtures & qualify for the semi-finals with 14 points in their kitty. They will aim to continue their winning spree against the Proteas & march into the finals. Overall all four team looks potent & will give their every blood to win the semi-finals & march into the finals.
Reserve Day Rules
The ICC announced on Tuesday that both semi-finals & finals will have Reserve days. The matches if interrupted at any stage due to rains will begin from the same point from where it was stopped on the Reserve day. In any case, if the semifinals are washed out due to rain on both days, then hosts India will face South Africa in the finals at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. They have a better NRR than rest two of the teams.
Prize Money
An overall Rs 83 crore has been announced as the prize money for the entire tournament. The winners of the ODI World Cup 2023 will take home Rs 33 crore while the runners-up will take home Rs 16.5 crore ($2 million). Teams will also collect Rs 33 lakh for every group stage win. Team India has already won Rs 29 crores after winning nine fixtures in the ODI World Cup 2023.
