Hardik Pandya blame himself for MI poor run in IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians Captain, Hardik Pandya has begun his stint with three big losses in IPL 2024. Their third loss came against Rajasthan Royals at their home ground. The season is quite tough for the newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya unlike GT he has begun the new season of IPL as captain with three losses in his kitty. Nothing is working in Hardik & Mumbai Indians favor and one of the major reasons for their failure could be termed as lack of support from Mumbai Indians fans. Amid all the abuse & hate comments, Hardik blamed Wankhede’s pitch & himself for the Mumbai Indians third consecutive defeat.

Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first after Sanju Samson won the toss & chose to bowl first. Batting didn’t do well good with MI as they lost their openers quite early in the game. Hardik and Tilak Varma provided some sort of stability after MI were four down for just 20. Both, however, fell in the 30s. He blamed himself for not giving his best & getting dismissed early. He also questioned the pitch which was handed to them for the fixture.

I wanted to counter, we were in a decent position to get us around 150-160, but my wicket allowed them to get back more into the game, I needed to do a lot more. It’s okay, we didn’t expect such a surface, but you can’t always have it as a batter, it’s nice at times for the bowlers to have a say,” said Hardik after the play. He also appealed to the MI players to be more disciplined & courageous in their approach. Hardik thinks that Mumbai Indians players can do a lot more than what they have done so far.

RR’s captain Sanju Samson too had a similar say about the wicket. He said that the wicket was very sticky & the toss was a game-changer for them. But he also said that he was not expecting Mumbai Indians four wickets to fall so quickly in the game. Further, he failed the performance of Trent Boult who resulted in early dismissals including Rohit Sharma’s wicket. Boult finished with a spell of 3 for 22 from 4 overs and was also adjudged as the Player of the Match.

Notably, Boult always makes Sharma a prey of his swing bowling. After the conclusion of the fixture, Boult agreed that dismissing Rohit always makes him feel great as Rohit has always been a major threat to his team.

“I’ve played against him a lot, and it is just about doing something different against him. Doesn’t always work this way, but happy when it does,” said Boult.

Coming to Mumbai Indians’ position at the Points Table, things are not looking for MI as they are at the bottom of the table. After losing three fixtures on a trot Mumbai Indians have no points in their kitty with a poor NRR of -1.423. Can they bounce back & win fixtures in the league or their poor form will continue? Questions will be answered as the tournament progresses ahead.
