Matt Riddle is one of the few fighters who has got a chance to work for both Dana White and Vince McMahon in the UFC and WWE. He recently drew similarities between his two former bosses and made an interesting assessment. Riddle made his UFC debut in 2008 on The Ultimate Fighter 7. He had a short stint in the promotion and recorded seven wins and three losses. Two of his wins were forfeited to no contests due to testing positive for marijuana. Both came within a year of each other, so the UFC was forced to release Riddle. He worked briefly with Bellator and Titan FC but fought only once, which was also a victory.
Riddle began training for pro wrestling in October 2014. After fighting in companies like Monster Factory and winning titles in EVOLVE, WWN, PWG and others. He was signed by WWE in 2018 and worked in NXT and on the main roster until his release last September amid controversy. He is a former NXT Tag Team Champion, RAW Tag Team Champion, and United States Champion.
Riddle was asked about his two former bosses
Riddle recently appeared on Signed by Superstars and was asked about working for McMahon and Dana White, who are now co-workers at TKO Group Holdings following the merger with WWE and UFC last year.
“When Vince has a story he tells it. Doesn’t matter what anyone says online, it doesn’t matter what people say behind the scenes, that’s his story, that’s how he runs his ship. That’s how it’s done. You might like it or hate it. That’s the point. Dana White is the same way. He has his business, he wants it to run a certain way, he won’t say no, like a lot of boxing they have random fights that don’t even happen. But they draw a little bit, Dana won’t do that,” said Riddle.
Matt’s last match in WWE was in September 2023
Riddle’s last match in WWE came on September 4 in Raw, when the Viking Raiders defeated him and Drew Mclntyre in a Tornado Tag Match. His last singles match was a loss to Ludwig Kaiser on July 31. After being released by WWE on September 22, he was ready to move forward with his pro wrestling career but was forced to wait out the standard 90-day non-committal period. Last year, on December 31, it was announced that Riddle would return to Major League Wrestling to begin the new year. He has currently signed with MLW and is working for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
