‘Asked Ashish Nehra For A Job At Gujarat Titans But He Declined,’
India’s legendary cricketer, Yuvraj Singh, shocked his fans after he revealed that he asked for a job at Gujarat Titans but head coach Ashish Nehru refused to add him to the coaching set-up.
In a conversation with PTI, Yuvraj Singh expressed his aspiration for coaching young cricketers. In a big revelation, Yuvraj Singh also stated that he was denied to get a job at Gujarat Titans by his friend and head coach Ashish Nehra.
“Let’s see what opportunities I get, but my priority is my kids right now. Once they start school, I will have more time. so I can pick up (coaching). I love working with the young guys, especially my state boys, and I feel that mentoring is something that I would love to do, and definitely to be part of one of the IPL teams, I’m definitely looking at,” said Yuvraj as quoted by PTI.
“I asked Mr Ashish Nehra (Gujarat Titans) for a job, but he declined it. So, let’s see where else I can get a position, but at the moment, I have to balance. “So, definitely in the coming years, I want to give back to cricket and help the young guys get better. I can contribute a lot,” he added.
Yuvraj Singh is hailed as one of the greatest cricketers ever played for India. He played 304 one-day internationals for India and scored 8701 runs at an average of 35.66. In the Indian Premier League, he featured for several franchises such as Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.
He turned up in 132 matches in the cash-rich league and scored 2750 runs at an average and a strike rate of 24.77 and 129, respectively. The former Indian batter is likely to take up coaching duties in future in a bid to help cricketer improve their skills.
Shubman Gill To Lead Gujarat Titans, Ashish Nehra To Continue As Coach
Gujarat Titans’ former skipper, Hardik Pandya has gone back to Mumbai Indians ahead of the upcoming season. The Titans, however, are up for the challenge and have appointed Shubman Gill as their new skipper. He will partner up with head coach Ashish Nehru to lift their second title in the tournament.
Shubman Gill had a season to remember last year. Gill wreaked havoc with the bat and helped his team reach the tournament’s final. In 17 matches, he managed to score 890 runs at an average of 59.33.
The Indian opener hasn’t been in a similar form, of late, and it will be interesting to see if he could replicate a similar performance in the upcoming season.
