Du Plessis vs. Adesanya potentially headed for Australia

Recently, talks have emerged about a huge UFC bout between Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya, potentially headed for Australia. This revelation comes after it was confirmed that UFC 305 will be held in Perth on Sunday, August 18 this year. UFC CEO Dana White recently announced that Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev will fight for the No. 1 contender spot at the UFC’s inaugural event in Saudi Arabia. Therefore, the winner will likely face the winner of Adesanya vs. Du Plessis.

The anticipated bout is in talks

While the official fight card is still being kept confidential, a source has revealed that a major bout pitting “Stillknocks” against “The Last Stylebender” is under discussion. This proposed matchup has already captured the imagination of fight fans around the world, becoming one of the most eagerly anticipated clashes in recent memory. The growing animosity between the two fighters, a highly publicized rivalry steeped in bad blood, is adding to the excitement.

The rivalry started few months ago

The feud originates from Middleweight Champion Du Plessis’s claim to be the true African fighter, explicitly comparing himself with Adesanya, who, despite being born in Nigeria, spent his formative years in New Zealand. The announcement ignited a clash of words that grew more intense over time, setting the stage for a showdown of epic proportions. Initially, Adesanya was scheduled to fight Du Plessis at UFC 293. However, the South African was forced to withdraw from the fight due to injury. Adesanya ended up fighting Sean Strickland, who won the UFC title from him.

The two men contemplated settling their feud in South Africa

Strickland lost the Middleweight title to Du Plessis in a close match at UFC 297, rekindling the Adesanya rivalry. While there was talk of the two facing off at UFC 300, Dricus did not have enough time to recover from his tough fight against “Tarzan.” Du Plessis and Adesanya contemplated settling their feud in South Africa, with the latter threatening to drag his dead body around South Africa.
