Los Angeles Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell has been posting a men’s product line on his Instagram handle recently and it has become a feast for his haters. He mentioned “All-Star” in one of the promotion posts, which has led to a flood of derogatory comments at him. Russell was just helping promote a deodorant brand and was just following the script. “What’s going on everyone! This is D’ Angelo Russell. All-Star point guard…,” said Russell in the video.
Critics spammed Russell’s Instagram
One of the fans wrote in the comments section that All-Star point guards don’t get benched, while another posted four crying emojis after writing “All-Star point guard.” One of the fans went out of his way and told Rusell to get ready and pack his bags. According to some people, calling himself an All-Star point guard is quite a reach.
DLo has made to the All-Star game once
While Russell’s Instagram is flooded with comments just for mentioning “All-Star,” “DLo” actually made it to the NBA All-Star game once in 2019. During that time, he was a part of the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 21.1 points, 7.0 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals and missed only one game in the regular season. In the NBA All-Star Game, Russell played for team Giannis and was undrafted by future teammate LeBron James. He managed to score six points in 12 minutes and also got three assists and one rebound. Team LeBron went on to win the game 178-164.
He led the Nets to a good season
The 27-year-old led the Brooklyn Nets to a 42-40 season and finished sixth in the Eastern Conference standings. It was the first time the Nets had made it to the playoffs in four years. Unfortunately, their campaign ended when they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round. Russell was traded to the Golden State Warriors the following year, then moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves in a mid-season trade and played four seasons there. In his current season with the Lakers, Russell is averaging 15.1 points, 6.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 30 games.
