With the conclusion of the IPL 2024 auction, the squad of all ten teams are out. All the franchises tried their best to purchase the best players in a bid to sort out the best possible combinations.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s acquisitions at the auction grabbed a lot of headlines. They bought Australia’s World Cup hero Travis Head for a hefty sum of 6.80 crores. In a bid to add strength to their bowling unit, they went all out for Australian skipper Pat Cummins for a record-breaking price of 20.50 crore. Besides, they also got Wanindu Hasaranga at a bargain price of INR 1.50 crore.
Despite Pat Cummins earning 20.50 crore, he wasn’t the costliest player at the auction. It was his compatriot, Mitchell Starc, who broke all the records to become the most expensive player in IPL history. Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders at a huge sum of 24.75 crore. He will be making his comeback in IPL after 8 years.
They roped in KS Bharat for his base price as a backup wicket-keeping option. Besides, Manish Pandey has also come back to Kolkata Knight Riders. Chennai Super Kings would be pretty pleased with their shopping.
They got the likes of Rachin Ravindra (1.80 crore) and Shardul Thakur (4 crore) at bargain prices. Daryl Mitchell was their most expensive buy as he was sold for a price of INR 14 crore.
Gujarat Titans invested in Umesh Yadav, who will be tasked to pick wickets in the powerplay. Besides, they also picked Kartik Tyagi (60 lakhs), and to fill the role of an all-rounder, they spent just INR 50 lakhs for Azmatullah Omarzai.
Sri Lanka’s star at the 2023 World Cup, D Madhushanka was picked by Mumbai Indians. The franchise also managed to buy the services of G Coetzee, who too impressed with his pace and accuracy in the World Cup. In the spin department, they have invested in Shreyas Gopal this season.
