Conor McGregor reveals his comeback plans in deleted tweet

The main event for UFC 300 has not yet been announced, leading to speculation among fans that the historic event could mark the return of Conor McGregor. However, Dana White has been cautious about McGregor’s future and has expressed hope for a comeback in the fall. McGregor was initially keen to headline UFC 300 upon his return but later targeted a summer return, which White dismissed as unrealistic. Despite White’s stance, the Irishman confirmed his intention to return in the summer.

In a since-deleted tweet, “The Notorious” told his fans, “Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest sporting days for my friends in the States, second only to the Mac’s return to the octagon this summer! Good luck to the 49ers and the Chiefs, leave something in Vegas for me.”

The fight has been teased since last year

McGregor is expected to return to fight against Michael Chandler, who is becoming impatient with the extended fight date. Both men coached on The Ultimate Fighter 31 last year and since then, the fight between them has been teased. White has not explained why McGregor has not yet returned to action, as he has been spotted fighting and appears to be recovering from a foot injury he sustained at UFC 264 on July 10, 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier in the third fight.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, White revealed that the highly anticipated matchup has been in the works for over a year with no clear timeline. He denied the rumors about McGregor’s proposed fight date of June 29 in Las Vegas and expressed hope for the fight to take place in the autumn. “Eventually…Hopefully this year. There is no date. I’m hoping for the fall, that we can get it done in the fall.” said White

McGregor’s drug testing is to end in April

McGregor’s entry into the USADA testing pool in late 2023 has been referenced, with White, UFC COO Hunter Campbell and SVP of athlete health and performance Jeff Novitzky insisting that McGregor undergo six months of testing before the comeback. This six-month period is scheduled to end in April.
