CA Eager to Host India vs Pakistan Bilateral Series: Report

Cricket Australia (CA) have expressed a desire to conduct a bilateral series India vs Pakistan in Australia. The high-profile India vs Pakistan clash in cricket remains one of the biggest sports rivalries in the world.

The two nations no longer participate in a bilateral series and the fans witness them take on each other only in the ICC events. India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series back in 2012-13.

For those who don’t know, the tickets for the India vs Pakistan clash in Melbourne for the 2022 World Cup were sold out in just 5 minutes. It took only five minutes for the stadium with a capacity of 90,000 to be filled out completely.

The fans witnessed a similar experience in Adelaide in the 2015 World Cup. This might have prompted Cricket Australia to come up with the proposal. CA is in talks with the BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board for the same.

Interestingly, both India and Pakistan teams will be in Australia in November. Australia would look horns with Pakistan for a three-match T20I and ODI series against Pakistan before taking on India for a Test series, starting 22nd November.

CA Keen on Hosting India vs Pakistan Bilateral Series

As per a report by Sydney Morning Herald report, CA cricket operations manager Peter Roach expressed interest in hosting a match between India and Pakistan.

“Going forward, we’re always interested in opportunities for matches and content that will engage our fans and it’s fair to say that every country in the world would love to see India and Pakistan compete in their country,” Roach said.

“We are on the record as saying that we’re one of those countries that have asked the question. There is no room in the schedules to do that at the moment but we’ll keep talking to them (about) any other opportunities that arise. But in this specific example, there are not going to be any changes to that schedule.” he added.

India and Pakistan are all set to take on each other next on 9th June in New York at the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
