NBA players are usually tall; although height isn’t the only thing that matters most for the sport, it is clearly an important factor for center players. Some of the tallest players in the NBA have become great icons of the sport and are often held dear by the fans. There are a couple of tall players who are seven feet tall or over seven feet, but many players have also reached very close to eight feet. The thought of running with someone over seven feet tall during the match can be daunting, but these players have played an important role in their teams and made their way to the playoffs.

Mark Eaton
A good height is always beneficial in basketball, and Mark Eaton, with a height of 7 `4, was quite happy. During his NBA career, Eaton has spent his time with only one team, the “Utah Jazz”. Because of his height, “The Man Mountain” was a fantastic defensive player. He has been named to the NBA All-Time Defensive Team several times and was named Defensive Player of the Year on two different occasions. Many credit Eaton for the rise of the Utah Jazz during his playing years.
Sim Bhullar
Although Bhullar may not be as great as some of the other huge players in NBA history, he still managed to impress a lot of people with his height. Bhullar has a height of 7 ‘5 and his biggest claim to glory is that he was the first Indian player to enter the NBA. His NBA career wasn’t that long, but he still plays basketball in Taiwan. One of the major NBA teams he played for was the Sacramento Kings.
Pavel Podkolzin
The 7 ‘5 man Podkolzin has impressive height, but people in the NBA weren’t very impressed with the big man. Pavel was in the NBA only for a few games and was bounced from team to team. The Russian was drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2004 but ended up getting traded to the Dallas Mavericks immediately. He made few appearances with the team and was eventually waived by the Mavericks and sent back to Russia to continue the rest of his career there.
Chuck Nevitt
The impressive thing about Chuck Nevitt was not only his height of 7 ‘5 , what is also impressive is how many great teams he has played for during his career. Chuck has been with the Rockets, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, and Spurs throughout his career. Always the biggest man on the court, Chuck E played the center position comfortably for nearly nine years in the NBA. To date, Nevitt is the tallest player to win an NBA championship, this happened in 1985 with the LA Lakers.
Yao Ming
Yao Ming has a height of 7 ‘5 , and he was the key player for the Houston Rockets from 2002 to 2011. Although the Chinese star never won a championship during his time in the NBA, it didn’t stop him from surprising the world. Ming became an NBA All-Star eight times and was also named to All-NBA teams five different times.
Shawn Bradley
Shawn Bradley was a prominent figure in the NBA for over a decade. During his NBA career, Bradley played for the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Jersey Nets, and the Dallas Mavericks. With a height of 7 ‘6 , he was a first-round pick in 1991 and was drafted in the second round overall. Although “the Stormin’ Mormon” never received any major acclaim outside of the All-Rookie Team, he enjoyed a long and great career by playing on major teams.
Slavko Vranes
The 7 ‘6 Slavko Vranes was not in the NBA for that long. He was picked by the New York Knicks in 2003 but was waived by the team in December. He ended up signing a contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, but it was only a 10-day contract. Vranes only played one match during his contract and spent the rest of his career playing somewhere else in the world.
Tacko Fall
The 7′ 6 Tacko Fall is still one of the tallest men to ever grace the court, not only in the NBA but in the entire world. He has played the sport for teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Charge, and he currently plays for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. Although he does not possess great speed, Tacko compensates for this with his great blocking skills.
Manute Bol
Manute Bol’s height is under debate as it has been listed as two different numbers by NBA publications: 7′ 6 and 7′ 7, but regardless of the actual height, he is still one of the tallest players in the NBA. He played basketball in the 80s and 90s and went down as one of the most influential shot blockers in NBA history. He was a brilliant defensive player and has blocked more goals than he has scored.
Gheorghe Muresan
With a height of 7′ 7 , Gheorghe Muresan is without a doubt the tallest man in NBA history. Most of his NBA career was spent during the nineties, playing for the Nets and Wizards. He had great potential to do many things in the NBA, but various injuries prevented him from going down in history. Fortunately, although he was not the most amazing player, he will always be remembered for his dominant presence on the court.
