IND vs BAN: There comes a major blow for the Bangladesh team as their star player and captain Shakib-Al-Hasan is doubtful for their next fixture against India. Shakib is doubtful for their fixture against India on October 19 due to an injury to his left quadriceps which he sustained during their fixture against New Zealand.
During their game against the Black Caps, Shakib suddenly felt some discomfort in his left quadriceps while batting but preserved. However, he continued to field & deliver a full quota of ten overs. But after feeling a prolonged discomfort he was immediately rushed to the hospital for an MRI scan which could reveal the extent of his injury. Bangladesh’s team physio, Bayjedul Islam Khan, emphasized the need to observe Shakib’s fitness carefully as the team still has six more matches in the tournament.
Despite of Injury setback, Shakib’s commitment to represent his nation remains unmatched. On Monday, Bangladesh’s team director, Khaled Mahmud expressed hopes about Shakib’s chances of featuring in a fixture against India. He further mentioned that Shakib is not pain-free which is a positive sign for Shakib’s recovery.

Mahmud provided an update about Shakib’s injury stating that Shakib’s report has not been provided by the management yet. But the pain has been reduced & we will probably get the report of his injury soon. He also said that there is a small tear on the leg & seems to be a grade 2 or 3 injury. He also highlighted that they might get the report by the end of the day.
With people awaiting the action to unfold between India & Bangladesh, Shakib-Al-Hasan’s fitness & inclusion in the squad are integral to Bangladesh’s prospects of winning. The Captain’s dedication to performing for the national team is evident but the team’s cautious approach to not jeopardize his long-term fitness is equally important.
