Bangladesh World Cup 2023 Schedule gives a glimpse of the side’s exciting campaign which will kickstart from October 7, 2023. The side is set to storm into the ICC World Cup 2023 as one of the best ODI-playing sides in recent times. Bangladesh achieved phenomenal success as they defeated Australia, England and India in bilateral series on their home soil. They sought a direct qualification to the marquee event after finishing at the 6th position in the ODI Rankings.
Bangladesh has never won any major ICC title so far. Their most recent successful stint was in 2017 where they qualified for the semifinals at the ICC Champions Trophy. However, they failed to make it into the finals as arch-rivals India and Pakistan battled it out to seize the coveted trophy.
Bangladesh will kickstart their World Cup journey against Afghanistan on October 7 at the iconic Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamsala.
They will take on defending champions England on October 10 at the same venue before finally taking on Australia in their final pool stage fixture at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.
Captaincy Conundrum for BCB
The likes of Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmadullah will lead the batting attack. Whereas Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed will be in charge of the bowling lineup.
Regarding the team’s leadership, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is still in a fix as to who will replace the outgoing Tamim Iqbal as the new White-ball skipper of Bangladesh. This is also a setback for the Bangladesh team ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 as the team is without a captain ahead of the prestigious tournament.
Bangladesh have a fair chance to succeed in the World Cup given their phenomenal performance in the subcontinent.
