He is now in line to make his T20I debut. Wes Agar too has an experience of playing two ODIs for Australia but is yet to make his T20I debut. He could be handed his debut T20I cap on Tuesday.
Additionally, Xavier Bartlett too has been added to the squad. He has had a sensational ODI debut against West Indies. Bartlett picked four wickets each in the two matches he played in the series.
It will be interesting to see if he will be given the chance to make his T20I debut. Australia sealed the series 2-0 after beating West Indies by 34 runs in the second match on Tuesday.
Glenn Maxwell stole the show with his outstanding batting display as he notched his fifth T20I century in T20 internationals. With that, he equalled Rohit Sharma’s record of most centuries in the shortest format.
Maxwell blazed his way to 120 runs off just 55 deliveries, a knock which was laced with 12 fours and 8 sixes, striking at 218.18. Glenn Maxwell is now the third-highest run-scorer for Australia in T20 internationals, only behind the likes of Aaron Finch and David Warner.
“Originally, I was supposed to not be playing, I was going to be rested,” Maxwell said.
“I sort of talked them into [it by going,] ‘Yeah, I wouldn’t mind playing this one; my family’s going to be here’, so they changed their mind, which was nice. I just thought, ‘Imagine if I was rested for this game, they made the effort to come over here’, but they had a Barossa tour yesterday, so they were pretty happy,” the joint record-holder Maxwell added.
The third and final T20I against West Indies is scheduled in Perth on Tuesday (Feb 13).
