Singapore Badminton Association Appoints Anup Sridhar as Singles Coach
Former Indian badminton player Anup Sridhar, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships, has recently been appointed as a singles coach by the Singapore Badminton Association (SBA). This move comes as part of SBA’s efforts to enhance their coaching staff and improve the performance of their players in international competitions.
Prof David Tan, Vice President of SBA, Shares Excitement
Prof David Tan, SBA’s Vice President for Business Development and Communications, expressed his excitement about having Sridhar join the coaching team. Tan mentioned that the start date for Sridhar’s role is pending work visa approval, but they are eager for him to start as soon as possible.
Tan stated: “We do not have a start date as it is dependent on the work visa approval, and we certainly want Anup to join us as soon as possible. All I can say is that it is not a short-term contract, and all other terms are confidential.”
Clarification on Sridhar’s Role
It was clarified by Tan that Sridhar will be taking on the role of Singles Coach for SBA, not as the men’s singles head coach as reported by some media outlets. Sridhar’s appointment was in response to an advertisement for an additional singles coach with specific qualifications in national badminton team structures.
