Most Searched Athletes in 2023: There were a few shocks when Google unveiled its Year in Search results for 2023. Some of the biggest names in the world were absent from its top 10 list of the athletes who were searched for the most in 2023 worldwide. Both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of the greatest football players in history, were left off of the top 10, even after Messi made the much-discussed transition to Major League Soccer and won his eighth Ballon d’Or.
Oddly, Inter Miami CF topped the list of the world’s most searched-for sports teams, while David Beckham, a team co-owner, ranked ninth on the list of most searched-for individuals. The Los Angeles Lakers, coached by LeBron James, were positioned between Messi’s Inter Miami and Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr FC, which came in third place on the list. However, Kylian Mbappé, Messi’s former colleague, made it to the top two, behind American football star Damar Hamlin.
Even more noteworthy, though, were the two cricket players who appeared in the top 10 sportsmen who were looked for in 2023. Remarkably, neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli—nor the illustrious team of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar—were involved. The only other Indian to place among the top ten was Shubman Gill. The first game for India was ranked tenth. However, Indian-origin athlete Rachin Ravindra, who just finished up for New Zealand in the Cricket World Cup, beat him to eighth place.

About Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill had early cricket talent. In the Vijay Merchant Trophy, he made his Under-16 debut for Punjab at the age of 14, scoring a double-century. In the Inter-District Under-16 competition held in Punjab in 2014, he amassed 351 runs and struck a record opening partnership of 587 runs with Nirmal Singh.
Gill is the youngest player in One Day International cricket history to make a double century, and he also has the greatest individual score for the Indian side in Twenty20 International cricket. In 38 innings, he is the fastest player to reach 2000 runs in one-day internationals (ODIs).
In late 2017, he made his first-class debut for Punjab in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy against Bengal, scoring 129 runs in the last match against Services and making his List-A debut against Vidharbha in the same year. In January 2019, he made his debut for the Indian cricket team on the international front.
