Shreyas Iyer has expressed his desire to continue bowling for India at the International level but his recurring back injury is the main reason for hindering his bowling aspirations. The strength & conditioning coaches have restricted Shreyas Iyer from bowling & have prioritized his recovery process.
Iyer has bowled just 45 balls in his International career & has conceded 43 runs without a breakthrough. He has 10 wickets in domestic cricket in his kitty. After India’s victory against Australia in the final T20I match of the five-match T20I series, Iyer expressed his keenness to unveil his bowling skills.
“I have been longing to bowl, but the strength and conditioning coaches, they are right ‘now you are not going to bowl for some time’. That’s the sad part of it,” Shreyas told Jio Cinema after the match.
Shreyas Iyer gets ready for South Africa Challenge

The prolific right-handed batsman showcased his prowess in the final T20I at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by scoring a fine 53 runs off 37 balls with five fours & two sixes at No 3 position. It was his innings that anchored India to a massive total of 160-8.
Overall in the entire T20I series, Shreyas has scored 65 runs at an average of 21.67 in three matches. The 28-year-old has displayed his fielding skills by grabbing crucial catches dismissing Aaron Hardie and Matthew Wade.
He said that he was thinking of getting behind the Aussie batters when the wickets started falling. He also said that the wicket was not easy to bat & a total of 160 runs was ideal on that kind of pitch. Defending such a total was a brilliant performance from India’s bowling attack. He also said that he was happy that everyone stepped in & contributed their part to help India win the match with flying colors.
