One of the most successful spinners of India’s limited overs format has once again been ignored in India’s Squad for the big-ticket event. Yuzvendra Chahal boasts of stunning figures in ODIs. He has bagged 121 wickets in 72 ODis at an average of 27.01. He has also returned with exemplary figures in IPL 2023 scalping 21 wikcets in 14 fixtures & lifted the tag of highest wicket-taker in the IPL history with 187 wickets in his kitty.
Chahal forms a stunning pair with another wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav to give nightmares to some biggest batters of World Cricket. Their pair fondly named as ‘KulCha’ was the biggest expectation of India’s Asia Cup Squad. But ending all speculations, Indian team management dropped Yuzvendra Chahal from the Asia Cup 2023 squad & give a nod to Kuldeep Yadav.
The decision was taken as the selection committee didn’t find it appropriate to have two wrist spinners in the squad for the marquee event. They didn’t want to compromise on a seamer & with the need of concentrating on batting depth they went with spin all-rounder Axar Patel & R Jadeja. The decision didn’t go well with fans who felt that Chahal was a deserving candidate for India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad. He has been the most unlucky player in the history of Indian cricket after getting ignored for T20 World Cup 2021, 2022 & now Asia Cup 2023 despite being the top wicket-taker in T20I format.
