4) R Ashwin
R Ashwin is one of the best spinners in World Cricket. He ranked as World’s No 1 Test bowler in ICC Rankings. But the same trust was not shown in the name for limited overs where his figures have not been extraordinary. He has scalped 151 wickets in 113 ODIs at an average of 33.5 and an economy rate of 4.94. He has also been a handy lower-order batsman, scoring 707 runs at a strike rate of 87.00. Ashwin was a great option as a spin all-rounder for India’s Asia Cup 2023 Squad.
But considering the recent performances of Axar Patel & R Jadeja the duo have been preferred in place of R Ashwin. Ashwin’s last ODI appearance came back in January 2022. Fans demanded his comeback in Asia Cup 2023 but again due to the other two spin all-rounder options available, a prolific player like R Ashwin has been ignored. Looking at his blistering form in the Test format if he was allowed to be a regular face in the ODIs, he could have been a valuable asset in India’s Asia Cup 2023 Squad.
