Shoaib Akhtar takes a jibe at skipper Babar Azam Decision
During the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match between Pakistan and India, Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistani speedster, had some harsh words for Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, in a dramatic turn of events. In response to Azam’s choice to bowl first after winning the toss, Akhtar expressed his displeasure. His remark was in response to the Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s spectacular opening partnership, which sped to a daunting 121-run stand.
The rain during the two teams’ group stage encounter rescued India, but this time it was Pakistan’s good fortune. Akhtar posted on X, “Well. I don’t see this happening once again. Colombo ki baarish is crazy.”
He continued, “Hey everyone, this is Shoaib. The match is currently in progress, and the Indian and Pakistani supporters are waiting. Finally, lekin bearish ne bacha liya humein! Barish ne bacha lia, Pehle India phass gya tha humare aagey. The India ke samne, Aaj hum phas gaye, shukr hai barish ne bach lia. (Fans from Pakistan and India are waiting with me to see the game.”
In the video that has become popular on social media, Akhtar can be heard stating, “Rain saved us, rain saved India the other day, but today rain saved us!”
“We will be able to resume this game tomorrow at the same position, and by making a wise decision, not to bowl first,” he continued.

In the Super Four round of the Asia Cup on Sunday, rain sent a titanic match between India and Pakistan into a reserve day. This was after just 24.1 overs of play.
Following Pakistan’s choice to bowl first in Colombo, rain prematurely terminated India’s innings. They will continue the 50-over match on Monday at 147-2.
The Super Four matchup was given an additional day at the last minute. This was after a previous group matchup between the two teams in Pallekele was postponed due to rain. This matchup was the only one to receive the advantage aside from the championship game.
