The much anticipated IND vs. PAK clash of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 stage is marred by rain. After India set a formidable target of 357 to chase, rain again interrupted the gameplay. As drizzles seem to wash out India’s motive of winning the fixture, Shoaib Akhtar couldn’t stop himself from sharing a cheeky tweet on the situation.
In a playful tweet, he quoted the famous Bollywood song,
“Barso re megha megha,” which roughly translates to “Let the rain pour, O clouds.”
Akhtar’s tweet indicated Pakistani fans’ desire for rain to continue to play as a spoilsport & resulting in the India vs. Pakistan fixture getting washed out with teams sharing one point each. His hilarious tweet created some light moments in the tension-filled cricketing showdown.
Akhtar’s tweet seemed to suggest that the rain should continue, possibly leading to the match’s washout and the teams sharing one point each. His tweet added a touch of humor to the tension-filled cricketing showdown.
Earlier on Sunday, Former Pakistani pace sensation Shoaib Akhtar expressed his dissatisfaction with Babar Azam’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss. Akhtar was quick to point out that the weather in Colombo has some other plans that could save Pakistan from a massive run-chase. He humorously commented on the unpredictability of Colombo’s weather, leaving cricket enthusiasts in splits.
IND vs. PAK: Virat Rahul’s ton guided India to a daunting target
India lost the toss & was sent to bat first, a decision that turned out to be a savior for Men in Blue. Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, and Shubman Gill showcased their batting prowess with an explosive opening partnership. Rohit Sharma contributed a well-crafted 56, while Gill added a brisk 58 to the scoreboard. However, when the duo went back to the pavilion with Virat & Rahul taking the charge, rain played a spoilsport stopping the fixture at 147-2 in 24.1 overs & taking the game on a reserve day.
On the Reserve day, things changed in India’s favor with Virat playing a blistering 111 run-knock while KL Rahul returned with a beautiful knock of 122 runs. As a result, India posted a massive 356-run target on board for the Men in Green to chase.
In reply, Pakistan got off to a poor start as they lost their first wicket in powerplay overs with Imam-Ul-Haq going back to the pavilion at 17-1 in 4.2 overs. After a few overs, India got another breakthrough with Pandya taking the prized scalp of Babar Azam in 10.4 overs reducing India to 43-2. Rain then played a spoilsport resulting in the stoppage of the fixture for a while. Can Pakistan change the course of action after the resumption of play? Or India will take the match on their side? The question will be answered once the game resumes.
