At PFL vs. Bellator on Saturday, world boxing champion at three weights, Jacob Shields, prevailed via split decision over Kelsey DeSantis, despite the latter’s first-round attempt at submission.
After the event, the 28-year-old revealed, clearly upset: “There were days at camp when I was crying all the way through. It was so difficult that I didn’t want to return. The task I am attempting is not simple.
The Americans recently threatened to “torch” Savannah Marshall of Britain if they ever engaged in mixed martial arts (MMA). Marshall is scheduled to make her octagon debut this summer.
When the two faced off in a world middleweight title boxing match in London in October 2022, Shields prevailed by majority decision. Since then, she has improved her professional record to a spotless 14-0.

“Savannah needs to understand – and the sooner she understands the better – you can’t beat me in nothing,” Shields said in her interview with Sky Sports. We’ll all be better off the sooner she realises it. Simply give it up.
“I’m going to win the boxing match we have. If we battle mixed martial arts, I’ll win. We can fight on the street, and I’ll prevail. That is unimportant. I’m going to win if we play ping pong.
“I simply outperform her in every way. She must realise that, and I promise to uphold my superiority in any endeavour she chooses to confront me with.”
