Sheffield United vs Arsenal: Preview
Sheffield United form analysis
Things have gone from bad to worse lately for bottom side Sheffield United in the Premier League. After a spirited 2-3 loss away at Crystal Palace on January 31st, United’s defense completely collapsed in their next match, falling 0-5 at home to Aston Villa on February 3rd with the scoreline not even doing justice to Villa’s dominance. The struggles continued in their next match, seeing an early lead erased in a 1-3 home defeat to Luton Town on February 10th.
Sheffield did even worse in their next match, getting utterly dismantled 0-5 away at Brighton on the 18th. Most recently on February 25th, more disappointment followed with a 1-0 home loss to Wolves. Overall, Sheffield looks utterly bereft of confidence, drive or quality at the moment. Their defending in particular has completely abandoned them, letting in far too many goals with ease. Aside from brief early leads, they have offered next to nothing in attack either. With such a paper thin squad, drastic improvement across the entire pitch seems the only hope if United are to somehow avoid breaking the Premier League points record for relegation.
Arsenal form analysis
Arsenal have been in utterly dominant form recently in Premier League play. After a battling 1-2 away win at Nottingham Forest on January 31st, Arsenal blew out Liverpool 3-1 at home on February 4th behind goals from B. Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and L. Trossard. They followed that up with their most complete performance on February 11th, utterly demolishing West Ham United 0-6 on the road led by a B. Saka brace.
Arsenal kept rolling in their next match, breezing past Burnley 0-5 on the 17th with goals spread across the attack. Most recently on the 25th, league leaders Arsenal claimed another impressive scalp by dispatching Newcastle United 4-1 courtesy of goals from K. Havertz, B. Saka and a S. Botman own goal. Overall, Arsenal have looked extremely sharp at both ends of the pitch. Their aggressive attack strikes quickly and frequently, while the defense has conceded minimal chances. Maintaining this well-balanced form could carry Arsenal to the Premier League title.
