WWE is trying to settle the public feud between American rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar as recently Shawn Michaels specifically invited the two to NXT so they can settle their dispute. Considering the fact that Michaels was indirectly mentioned in Lamar’s new diss track, it makes sense that “The Heartbreak Kid” and NXT would see an opportunity to create something interesting.
Since the time Lamar took aim at Drake in his verse with Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” in March, the rivalry between the two men has escalated very quickly, with both exchanging several intense verses in an unprecedented beef. The verbal beef reached its peak over the weekend of May 3, when Lamar called Drake and his entourage “certified pedophiles” and said that Drake’s hometown of Toronto was a city harboring many sex offenders.
Michaels was mentioned in Kendrick’s song
A little Sweet Chin Music goes a long way.@kendricklamar, you and @Drake are formally invited to #WWENXT to settle this thing. I’m even offering my services to mediate. https://t.co/tN02NLq36X

There is a line in the song “Sweet Chin Music” that refers to Shawn Michaels’ old finishing maneuver, this is the reason WWE and Michaels are getting into the matter. In his rap, Lamar said, “Put the whole label on me, I’ma get ‘em dropped, Sweet Chin Music and I won’t pass the aux.” Seeing the reference to himself, “The Headliner” wrote, “A little sweet chin music goes a long way.”
Michaels then invited both rappers to NXT by mentioning them and offering his services as an in-ring mediator. It’s unlikely any of the two will accept the offer, but the idea of the company capitalizing on this public feud with a crossover appearance would be huge for WWE, especially NXT.
NXT will get a huge boost if they accept the invite
Even people who are not fans of rapping are talking about the Drake and Lamar beef that has taken mainstream media by storm and recently became the rap world’s cover story. WWE knows about the popularity of celebrities outside the wrestling industry and how bringing them in would give a huge buzz and entertainment to the fans. Drake is a big fan of WWE and was once seen publicly wearing a WWE Championship belt gifted to him. It would be quite interesting if both rappers actually accept Michael’s invitation. This would garner incredibly big numbers for NXT, which is working hard to establish itself as a legitimate third brand that is close to the level of both RAW and SmackDown.
