Shardul Thakur was picked at his base price of INR 2 crore. © Getty Shardul Thakur, the Mumbai pace-bowling all-rounder, has been roped in by Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement for Mohsin Khan for IPL 2025. Mohsin has been ruled out of this season due to injury. Mohsin had suffered an ACL tear and last featured in a competitive game in December 2024. Shardul, who went unsold at the auctions, was picked at his base price of INR 2 crore from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) following a string of fine all-round performances in the domestic season. Shardul has featured in 95 games in IPL, picking up 94 wickets. He has previously played for Punjab Kings, Rising Pune Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. With the bat, he has put in some crunch performances with his hitting lower down the order, including a highest score of 68. Thakur had earlier signed a deal with Essex to play seven County Championship games during the initial half of the 2025-26 season, all of which are set to be played in April and May 2025. As a result of his IPL commitments, he will now be unavailable for the County season.
